1. All entry packets must be received by Monday, April 1, 2013. ONLY six (6) bands will be selected by a group of judges to play on June 8, 2013, as part of the live competition. The selected groups will be notified by telephone or email by Midnight, Friday, April 12, 2013.
  2. Incomplete entries will be disqualified. Bands must submit the application form and demo to MOONSTRUCK CONTEST at the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum at 71 Asylum Drive, Weston, WV 26452 by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2013. Photos, bios, etc. are welcomed but not necessary. Materials will not be returned. Please only submit audio performances. Video performances submitted will only have the audio listened to. 
  3.  Each band that competes at the Battle of the Bands on June 8, 2013, must play ORIGINALS ONLY for at least 35 minutes to a maximum of 40 minutes.  
  4.  It is the band's responsibility to set gear and be ready to perform within the allotted time. A pre-staging area will be available next to the stage.
  5. Stage management has final say on all activities on stage. Any band going over the 40 minute limit, or disregarding event management's direction about anything, including safety and time, may be disqualified or powered off.
  6.  Judges will determine 1st and 2nd place for the Battle of the Bands. Cash payouts will be $500 for 1st place and $250 for 2nd place.
  7. If your group is chosen to compete in the Battle of the Bands, you must be available to perform anytime on June 8, 2013 between 6:00 p.m. and Midnight. Time requests will not be considered, no time slots are guaranteed, and if you enter, you need to be available during the previous times stated.
  8. All bands are required to send one member to a pre-meeting before the event on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 6:00 p.m.
  9. Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum associates, employees, or family members of either are ineligible to enter.
  10. Battle of the Bands is open to amateurs only. For the purpose of this contest, an amateur is somebody without a major-label recording contract who makes less than half of their annual income by performing.
  11. Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum is not responsible for any damage or theft during the Battle of the Bands. ONLY band members are responsible for the security of their equipment and the event organizers cannot be held liable for any lost, damaged, or stolen equipment.
  12. To be considered, bands must perform ONLY original songs.
  13. All music must be played live, no pre-recorded music is allowed.  Sound effects such as movie clips, bass drops, non-instrumental audio, etc., will be permitted, but limited to 15 seconds total per song.
  14. Criteria to be considered includes: Musicianship, Showmanship, Technical Ability, Audience Reaction, and Professionalism. Judges will award points in each category using an Olympic point system removing the highest and lowest scores prior to totaling. If bands end up in a tie, the following individual category scores will decide the winner (in order): Stage Presentation, Song Quality & Originality, and Audience Response.
  15. All bands agree to have their name, voice, and/or likenesses used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest without any compensation or rights to royalties for such use.
  16. A P.A. system will be provided for the contest. Band members must provide all other musical instruments and equipment necessary for their performance.
All bands selected to play in the Battle of the Bands will be notified by phone and are required to pay a $75 registration fee, NO LATER THAN Friday, April 19, 2013. Any bands that fail to submit their registration fees will not be allowed to take part in the Battle of the Bands.
